Children of corporate transfers or military offspring, moving from home to home, become collectors of memories.

 

 A bay window in a Boston bedroom, a breakfast nook in Pittsburgh and a blue-tiled bathroom in New Orleans…. Children of corporate transfers, or military offspring, become collectors of memories as they move from home to home. Deep within each of them lies an intensely personal place created from a rich blend of ingredients.

Throughout most of their lives, that place remains hidden from view, save for brief glimpses during moments of quiet contemplation. But in adulthood, many long to make their imagination house real:  To sit in it, to stroll in it… we seek to give form to the elements we remember and cherish.

It’s incredible how adaptive we are as humans. The “moving” experience is sometimes by choice and sometimes by forces outside our control. Either way, the only constant possession we all take from place to place is our memories.
